- How did you get involved in acting?
Started in high school, specifically when my father passed away. I needed to help make money to support my family and a friend of mine is a model. My friend then introduced me to an agency and that’s when I started acting in commercials and tv spots.
- How different is it to act in a movie and to act in a theater play? And which one do you prefer?
Somewhat different, as for both I become the character and truthfully portray that character in front of an audience. But I think the biggest difference is that theater is raw and in the moment, while movies are more polished and intricate. If I had to choose, I would prefer movies.
- What are your weak points when it comes to acting? How do you try to improve them?
Drama and crying scenes haha. Even though I easily cry in real life, and I usually cry when others start to cry, but when in front of a camera and alone, it’s very hard for me to cry. But I still get it done and I have improved throughout the years as I’ve developed a mantra to remind myself to relax and be in the moment.
- What are your strong points as an actor?
I don’t know what my strong points are, but if I had to analyze myself, I guess I could say I could get into character rather quickly and easily.
- What have you learned from the directors that you have worked with throughout your career?
To be honest with myself and with the character. To not overact, and to do your homework. Trust the character and you can convince the audience.
- What makes a good scene partner?
Trust and listening to each other. And to be familiar with each other, get to know each other first before acting together, it makes it a lot easier. I was very fortunate to meet many directors and actors that were more than willing to teach me things and chat with me and get to know me better.
- What are some of the difficulties of the acting business?
Not having the proper channel and access to many auditions. There are roles out there that I didn’t even know were available.
- What’s challenging about bringing a script to life?
Challenges include staying true to the character and dealing with the insecurity of whether or not you are doing the story justice, to be authentic and wondering whether the audience will sense that authenticity.
- What do you do when you’re not doing theatre/film?
Gaming on my stream, watching movies, mountain climbing, working out at the gym, and sharing things on my youtube channel. You know, normal stuff.
- If someone is going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?
I honestly have no clue. Maybe myself?
