- How did you get involved in acting?
When I was a child, I went to the movies with my parents, my grand father recorded movies on TV and my father often rented video recorder to the videoclub. I remember I washed those movies and I told to myself “I want to do that”. I imagine my name in the titles in the end of the movie. But when you say “I wanna be a actor” people don’t care about it, you not be taking seriously and at school, people speak u about everything exepted how to be an actor. Years went by and at 22, I decided to listen my heart, I left my computer graphics studies and I began acting courses, the year after I went in INSAS in Bruxelles (Institut national des arts et du spectacle).
- How difference is it to act in a movie and to act in a theatre play ? And which one do you prefer?
I prefer acting in a movie. For me, to act in a movie or in theatre should be the same exept in theatre you have to speak loudly. But it’s not the case, in theatre nowadays, actor’s often look the public to explain something. I’m working Meisner technique with Pico Berkovitch (an acting coach) and when two actors on stage work together, I feel something in my flesh, they don’t look at me, they are together and nothing exist about them. This is theatre too. Maybe I don’t learn something but I feel something and for me, if I go to the movies or theatre I want feel something, I wanna see human beings. Lee Strasberg said “don’t go to search the public, be true and the public will go to you. That’s my point of view.
- What are your weak points when it comes to acting? How do you try to improve them?
To get out of my head. When you act you don’t have to think “am I good, am I not good, What is my next line, what am I suppose to do now, How must I say this line, I have to do it as last time because it was good…” No, you have to be in the moment like in life and you work moment by moment. Sometime it’s difficult, so I try to relaxe and be concentrate on my partner.
- What are your strong points as an actor?
I’m a worker, I learn every day, nothing is acquired. I always want more and go far away in the character. I never give up.
- What have your learned from a directors that you have worked with troughout your career?
A character can’t be play, a character have to be understand by the actor, after you let him live in you. That’s what I learned during the rehearsals with Alexandre Jallali.
- What makes a good scene partner?
A listenning partner, someone who doesn’t play alone, I mean by that there are actors who learn how to say their lines and they say them in that way, life not work like that and as an actor you have to create life. In acting as in life, everything happen to me is cause of my partner and everything happen to him is cause of me.
- What are some difficulties of the acting business?
The accessibility of the castings. Casting directors have a lot of works and thousand actors in their database. They receive mail from actor’s every day. I think it’s not like that when you are a little known but if it’s not the case, you have to wait and sending mail and sometimes it’s difficult.
- What’s challenging about bringing a script to life?
To understand the character, to think like the character think. It’s a long process, to learn the text is a very small part of the work. You have to dissect everything whose said in the script. You have to create an entire life… It’s a long but exciting process.
- What do you do when you’re not doing théatre/film?
Working, the training of an actor is never finish, it’s a life of training. So I work my acting skills, I do acting traineeships and trying to do my own projects.
- If someone is going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?
I’m only thirty. So I think I can play myself. Lol.
