How could a parent abandon their own child? Do they feel regretful or are they happy with their decision?
BEYOND HOME is the story of Tine and Manca, brother and sister, abandoned by their father to a vitiated family in the countryside. As their situation grows unbearable, Tine plans to leave his sister behind and cross the ocean in search of their father.
Abandonment occurs when the parent fails to fulfill his or her parental responsibilities and chooses not to have contact with his or her child. Neither mothers nor fathers should walk away from their children because whatever the circumstances and whoever stays with whom, it’s still abandonment on some level.
Very often, prior to abandonment, the children were exposed to different stress factors. Abandonment is an intensive traumatic event for children.
Every child deserves safe shelter, plenty of food and a chance to get an education. Sadly, millions of orphaned, abandoned or neglected children don’t have a safe place to call home. Many precious little ones are trying to survive day to day – unprotected from abuse, hunger, violence and sickness. Religion has the mission to rescue and protect these vulnerable children and give them a chance to become the leaders of tomorrow, and quite often a priest becomes the father of them all.
There is consistent evidence that father absence lowers children’s educational attainment and decreases the likelihood that they will graduate from high school. That’s why the main character, Tine, struggles to escape from home, in order to find his dad.
Tine’s friends, and even the most important man of the village, the priest, help him to run away and fulfill his dream – to find his father alive. The adventure has many unknown cards, but not only for him. His sisters starts a new life and finds joy in every little thing.
Watching Beyond home will bring to you thoughts of disappointment, fury, hope, pity, regret and love. You’ll might want to adopt.
